Winter is one of the best times to step back and learn a new craft. Things are usually a bit quieter here on the homestead, at least after the holidays. Often, in December, I’m shopping for new DIY books or courses that will keep my mind busy during the bitterly cold days in January and February.
I almost always try out a new Herbal Academy Course during this time, not only because they’re engaging…but because looking at all those bright pictures of growing plants and wild herbs gets me excited about spring (and helps me through the darkest part of the year).
At this point, I’ve taken just about all of their courses, and the lovely folks at the Herbal Academy offered to let me share some of my favorite recipes and snippets from those courses with you.
During the month of December, I’ll be sharing excerpts from some of my favorite courses, but I’d love to know which you’re most interested in. (They also happen to be having a 25% off sale through Dec. 5th, so it’s a good time to check them out.)
I’m all about foraging, medicinal mushrooms and herbal fermentation, and there are plenty of botanical mead bubbling away in my basement right now….but, maybe most of you are more into botanical drawing, herbal skincare or natural perfumery.
If you could have a sneak peak at any of their courses, which would you choose?
I’m testing out this new nifty survey feature below. They only let you put 5 choices in a survey…and the Herbal Academy has an amazing number of courses, so I’ve broken them down into groups of 5.
Let me know what you’re most interested in and I’ll share snippets from the courses that get the most votes below:
Personally, I love that they have short courses that allow you to do a deep dive into something you’re particularly interested in. Let me know which short course you’d like to take:
And finally, they have mini courses that cover very specific topics. Some of those topics are below.
In the meantime, here’s some herbal inspiration to get you started:

If there’s something you’re hoping to learn this winter (herbal or otherwise, but especially herbal) please do let me know in the comments below. I’ll see if I can find any resources to help get you started.
(Comments only, please. Emails tend to get lost in my inbox, and as much as I’d love to get back to each and every one, my screen time is very limited…and things fall through the cracks, and emails get buried in my inbox. If you comment here, they’re all in one place, and it’s much easier to get back to every single one.)
Until Next Time,
