You have so many good ideas and practical tips I wish you could publish all these blog posts into an ebook. Or a boxed set. Or anything really. I want all the knowledge. I want it all Ashley.
Thank-you for sharing information on the EMBER Off-Grid Biomass Oven! I own a 2-story cabin on the deepest fjord lake in the world (B.C. Canada). It came with an old propane stove but the oven part was always blocked off and cannot be used. This little stove would be perfect out there, besides for our camping!
Thank you so very much for this post--so glad to learn this helpful and useful information.
How heartening, that the "slim pickings" of the cold season aren't really so slim, after all, if we are aware of the bounty we can look for!
Thank you specifically for the reminder that Spring Beauty roots are edible. We've been surrounded by them my whole life, and I didn't know this.
Just in the last few years we've had a lot of invasive lesser celandine (I don't remember seeing that ten years ago), which I want to be sure not to mistake for marsh marigold.
I'll have to look at what we might have around to forage. I love the off grid oven! We're getting ready to add bees to our little homestead in April. We're excited to have honey available to us.
You are doing good work, Ashley! Thanks for sharing what you know so freely. Like is said below... Priceless! Thanks for being the good soul that you are!
Thanks for sharing this. Although I live in an area where we do not have snow I tend to not think about foraging in the winter months. I’ll have to start looking more closely
Love your ideas for winter foraging.
Gets me outdoors investigating every nook and cranny!
Nature never disappoints!
Nice!
The way things are adding up in WA DC, your experience and lessons are priceless.
Glad you found it helpful =)

Someday hopefully!
So much abundance around us when we just stop and look. Cool oven!
Very cool oven!
Wonderful article...Thanks!
