Those things are amazing for seed organizing! I had a huge box hoard too, and could never find anything. Now I have two of these organizers and it's so much simpler to get the garden started. Here's the info on where they come from: https://practicalselfreliance.com/seed-organizer/
I love recieving your emails! I always look forward to getting them! You are full of so much helpful information and love how organized you are. I have learned so much from you. Thank you. Quick question for you can you tell me what kind of herbs you grow in your garden for medicinal properites. I just started getting into this in the past couple of years. I live in Central Maine and looking for some ideas. I have added stinging nettles, catnip, comfrey, and anise hyssop to my garden. I noticed in your post you mentioned Earthbeat Seeds and I am interested in buying some seeds from there. Thank you so much.
Preferably straight to the point. Not too wordy . For a very basic library. Not much money here so basic and practical
Now seeking cold hardy fruit and unusual fruit such as cornelian cherry, honey berry, aronia and thornless Hawthorne. Have catlig for all but thornless Hawthorne and cold hardy pecan (Eaton rapids joe raised comes hardy pecans he has a website. I don't know where he gets them) want to make yard productive before I die so daughter has something to depend on in future
I am dreaming about moving to a new place where I can better control the EMFs and away from this surveilled city (Portland, OR). Dreaming about having people I can talk to about the last 5 years in an honest way. I am the new seed I am trying to plant somewhere else.
Until you are able to relocate, but ocean going boat paint and paint the inside walls of your casa, especially the room you sleep in. It should block emfs due to the lead in it that prevents barnacles from attaching to the hulls of ships and boats. It's not cheap anymore.
Plants I did not plant that strangle the plants I do plant are being relocated to either the 'wild yet useful' or 'invasive' dedicated sections of my property. Invasive with no known useful property gets composted, burned or salted. For example, poison ivy gets cut and salted. Grasses I don't use are composted. Brambles are burnt.
Thanks for this great list! Now I have so many new seeds catalogs to check out! 😄 The past couple of years I've also been ordering seeds on Etsy. There are some businesses there that offer a huge selection of seeds, as well as some that offer specialty type varieties.
We don't get harsh winters here, but the downside is we don't get particularly warm summers either. I can keep hardy things going over the winter, but they do need wind protection.
I have started chilli's and sweet pepper in my heated propagator as they need a long growing season under cover where I live.
I'm in the Outer Hebrides - islands off the North West Coast of Scotland. I think we are considered zone 9b. It's a very maritime climate - windy and wet.
I feel like I say this once a week, but this one of -- perhaps THE -- most informative and helpful Substacks!!
Thanks Justin!
Love the organization! I’m very inspired to take my cardboard box of hoarded seeds and see what I have in there. Where did you get the containers?

They are photo storage boxes, and are easily found online or in various stores. A great seed storage idea.
Hi Ashley - did you get my email regarding an article about you in the Signpost?
I didn't! Send it along again, sorry about that. Ashley.Adamant@gmail.com

What basic books do you recommend?

*buy the paint, not 'but'.
I have been trying to figure out where the ideal location is, also. I am not thriving in the DFW area.
I've been creating a new space for herbs and fruits to grow this year and relocating nuisance weeds from garden areas.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
What are you considering 'nuisance weeds'?

Thank you for all the work you do for all of us 🙏
Super interesting article as always! Loved the dive into wood ash :)

Sounds ideal to me. Where in the world are you?
I am considered zone 8, but it pretty harsh some winters and brutal every summer.

Also, Mary McCleod is from Lewis and Harris. D Trump's beloved mother.
Yes there are a lot of cousins around. One of my son's high-school friends is related to him. It's a small place.
That's cool! My daughter-in-law's ancestors are from there. They are McBride.
Hoping to plant lots of medicinal herbs for a variety of blend teas.
