Congratulations Ashley, I wouldn't want to leave home either with the paradise you've built. That reminds me--I may have missed it, but a while back you said that you intended to move and start over again which blew my mind. Now it looks as thought you are staying put. What happened?

Man oh man...the price of real estate these days put a hold on that. Looking at places that sold for $300K in 2019 and seeing them listed for $2M in 2024 put a damper on plans for anything! The couple of places that seemed possible sold literally within hours of being listed. It looks like we're here for the foreseeable future, but that's not exactly a bad thing =)

Hey Ashley... Thanks for this. You are really so inspirational and describe what you are doing to a tee! Love the "crafting a life" comment. Exactly! Love the outdoor kitchen and the wisdom in "half a vacation" to have one. Brilliant! Thanks so much for being an excellent guide for others. Blessings!

I love your outdoor kitchen. It is practical! So many I see are not for the average homeowner (Houzz), but this one looks like it will actually be used on a regular basis without having to worry about finishes, cleaning and bugs! I canned some pickles last week in the height of the heatwave and it was not fun. Outside kitchens are making more and more sense in Vermont. I would love to add a grill because I don't have an exhaust vented to the outside and actually prefer grilling in the winter. I've seen those Gazebo kits at Costco and wondered how they actually went together. I was wondering about the flooring on them and how well you think that will hold up. Could/do you pour a cement foundation or is there really no need? I'm also intrigued by the solar canopies that are similar...maybe someday! That's amazing that you can cook a pizza in under five minutes! Your husband looks very accomplished in the video you uploaded! My mind is racing as to where I could put one of those gazebo structures!

Hi Ashley, I loved this article on your outdoor kitchen and in particular the pizza oven. The pizzas looked delicious. Would you be open to sharing your dough recipe?

Love this gazebo! I need to know about snow load. I live in the foothills and get 4-5 feet of snow (not all once). The roof looks steeped enough that it will slide off. What are your thoughts?

Where do you get the big steam canner?

The big canner that goes across two burners is an Amish Canner from Lehmans. The round one is a steam juicer, and they come from anywhere that sells kitchen stuff (like amazon).

Of course. We are feeling pretty fortunate an comfy at our place in the Champlain Valley. 6 years in and the fruits trees are finally starting to crank. Hope the recent rains didn't cause you any problems.
