So many great ideas - thank you! These are good tips and advice, too, for those who don't live off the grid but might find themselves doing so out of necessity if/when the grid goes down . . .

Thanks Ashley, great stuff again.

You said that you have both wind and solar connected to your battery. What wind system are you using? I have looked around and can't find anything compatible with my battery, or so the lazy supplier recons!

Interesting how they are promoting wind and solar huge farms, but wind should also be very useful for household size systems to keep them topped up overnight.

We too are on the grid and with batteries, but if it was not for the subsidy we get for being on a pension we would also be paying $90 or more a month for our power. If we did not have the pension subsidy we would get off the grid, but we would need wind power to supplement the solar.
