Having just read this post I must share with you how my journey into your world, happened by chance years ago researching for something, now long forgotten, woke the "little one" in this 79 year old to become so excited and interested in stuff, I had absolutely no idea existed for me to enjoy and explore
Ashley, thank you for this very uplifting sharing! At 80 I still feel the wonder you see with the littles! I appreciate all you share. Blessings from chilly Ann Arbor, MI
It's wonderful that your family is able to be so hands on. I don't want to sound negative but do want to caution you and your family regarding the wood lathe. My husband's father was killed by a wood lathe March 2023. Please use it with caution. And follow all safety rules.
Yep, another oldster here...Sparked by a book about knitting with dog hair that was recently featured in a newspaper, I have embarked on a journey rife with, I'm sure, plenty of frustration, having never spun or knit before. I bought the book, and have carded some wool (they say to start spinning with wool to get the hang of it) and will begin by spinning with a drop spindle. Where I live there are plenty of fibermeisters willing to give tips and advice! I have been accumulating bags of soft wool-like hair from our Pyrenees so the time has come.
I look forward to seeing the results of the flax growing and spinning!
