Thank you for your research. I'm looking to buy one or (probably) more battery packs with solar panels that can handle larger appliances like our freezers, refrigerator, etc. I've heard good reviews for Bluetti on their larger units and portable solar panels and wonder what you've experienced for this type of use. I'm also curious if you have a large whole house battery pack for your house-installed panels. It's something else we're looking at and would love to hear from someone who has been doing this for some time. Thanks!!!

Super helpful! We also regularly lose power. I never thought of going this route, but I’ll look into this for sure! It would be great to have an option in the barn!

I bought a piece of property. Because bringing electricity to the property would cost me $29,0000, I am thinking of going solar with a back of generator. Your comments, please.

Greetings, thank you for your research. I noticed that you did not state what you experienced as the worst power stations. Is there an article with that? thanks for all you do and share!

Ashley, you know I love your brilliant and insightful, as well as, very practical knowledge.

Just wanted to share a generator worth your analysis and research time:

Champion generator that charges by solar, plugging in, or car charging. Also has a USB power pad and solar panels included. Sharing link only to check out product details:

Because of all the global warming hysteria, people often confuse carbon dioxide, CO2 (a natural substance which you exhale) with carbon monoxide, CO (which is a byproduct of combustion and is poisonous).

You fell into this trap in your 5th paragraph (gas powered generators).

There is no evidence that carbon dioxide is anything but helpful to our ecosystem, with the benefits to plants and trees. However, there is a huge amount of money in carbon (dioxide) credit trading (the most $ are here) carbon sequestration and of course, solar and wind. Natural gas is our clean energy.

You write an interesting column. Thank you.

I am considering a Bluetti AC 180 in hopes it would power our upright freezer intermittently. I have a smaller Bluetti and a gas generator already. Thanks for the info

Yep, bought a Jackery 3 weeks ago and the panels last week. I only knew of it from watching a channel on camping with clamshell type campers. Will purchase a second one when finances permit. I think a Bluetti will be down the road. Thank you for this information, much appreciated.

Thank you for all the work you did, it's very helpful. I have a question, I keep seeing ads for Patriot solar power stations. Are they any good?

Thank you for this, I purchased one this year, but I didn't really have a good gauge on which ones to actually buy.
