Sheep Camp: 8 Days of Everything Sheep!
Live in person workshop working with milk, wool, meat, and hides
My husband and I are aspiring sheep farmers, and at this point, we’ve raised almost every homestead animal except sheep. Once we have a bit more pasture available, our goal is to eventually add sheep for milk and meat, and they make the tastiest versions of both in our opinion.
Odds are you’ve never tried sheep’s milk, assuming you live in the US, but they’re an incredibly popular dairy animal worldwide and their milk makes some of the very best cheese on the planet.
My friend Maria has been raising, tending, and milking sheep for more than a decade now, and much of that time was spent running a commercial sheep dairy right here in Vermont.
She was kind enough to share a jar of raw sheep’s milk with me a few weeks back. Just one sip and I’m hooked!
I can’t wait until we have enough space for sheep…but in the meantime, I’m working on learning just about everything I can about raising these wonderful animals.
I know I’m not the only one that hopes to raise sheep someday, and when Maria told me she’s planning on running a sheep camp this summer I just had to share it with y’all.
It’s going to be 8 days of hands-on experience working with every aspect of raising sheep and harvesting sheep products, from milk to wool, meat, and hides.
There’s honestly something for everyone, and it’d be an incredibly valuable experience for anyone interested in even just part of the process. Aspiring cheesemakers, hand spinners, hide tanners, or even just someone that truly values high-quality local food and knowing where their food comes from.
If you’re interested in registering for sheep camp later this summer in Greensboro Vermont, you can find all the information here. Please feel free to forward this to anyone that might be interested.
You can use code SHEEP10 for a 10% discount on that registration and it expires June 5th.

Awesome! Great idea. I used to have a flock of sheep and they're all around great animals for the homestead. BTW! The turmeric has sprouted and the shoots are green. Finally! Persistence and your help paid off.
Looks like an AWESOME event! Can’t make it this summer, but truly hoping it will be offered again!
