Wonderful post - those pet photos! Quick correction: Washington State University (WSU) is not the University of Washington. WSU is where our Extension programs reside.

Hi, how is that 2nd newsletter different from this one? Will you be covering the same information in both? Thank-you so much for this newsletter as I have found so many ideas, some I had forgotten and some new! Thanks!

You can actually see everything that comes out on the other newsletter here: https://creativecanning.substack.com/

I send out seasonal canning recipes every week on that one, so it's less homestead/garden/foraging and just straight preservation.

Ohhh, I'm envious about that program - it sounds amazing.

I doubled the size of the container garden on my deck this year, which I'm excited about. So far I'm getting a lot of greens and herbs, and it looks like the snap peas may be not too far away.

There have been a couple of disruptions in my chicken coop lately which led to a lot of random egg-laying all over the property, so my egg bowl was dwindling and I was actually on the cusp of having to buy some at the store or go without. And then yesterday I found the stash (under the deck, in a little hidden area created by some propped up shovels). So now I am egg-rich again!

Nice! I've found so many egg stockpiles like that, you're lucky you know they're recent. We lost all our chickens to a predator one year, and then about 4 months later I found a stockpile of 30 eggs. Somehow no one found those in that bush before me, which is crazy!
